Coco Gauff used her Instagram Stories to tease Carlos Alcaraz after her coaches assigned her an unconventional drill inspired by the Spanish star's training regimen. The American shared clips of herself struggling with a modified tennis racquet that lacks strings and features a large opening in the center, a setup known as the "Ghost Racket" method.
Gauff tagged Alcaraz in her posts, joking that his influence was responsible for the difficult exercise, while adding captions about never giving up alongside crying-face emojis. The specialized equipment is designed to test hand-eye coordination and ball tracking, a technique Alcaraz has reportedly employed while managing a right-wrist injury to practice strokes without hitting a standard string bed.
While Gauff focuses on preparing for the upcoming WTA Finals, Alcaraz continues his ATP Tour campaign with a victory over Karen Khachanov in straight sets at the Vienna Open. The seven-time Grand Slam champion will next face either Jurij Rodionov or Nikoloz Basilashvili in the round of 16.
