The 'F1 of athletics'? Athlos set for London debut

Athlos, the women-only track circuit established by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, is staging its first London competition at StoneX Stadium on Friday, 18 September. Having previously operated in New York across 2024 and 2025, organizers called off an intended 2 October New York meet after competitors voiced fatigue late in the campaign, prompting plans to synchronize scheduling with the wider global running calendar by 2027.

Each event champion earns a $65,000 top purse alongside a Tiffany & Co custom crown, while competitors also receive an ownership stake in the enterprise.

The London showcase features an elite field that includes British runners Keely Hodgkinson and Georgia Hunter Bell, Dominican 400m standout Marileidy Paulino, and American sprinters Sha'Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas. Thomas, who was consulted via social media before the league's inception, emphasized the significance of athlete equity and fair financial rewards in shaping the future of women's athletics.
