Texas Tech running back J'Koby Williams secured the Paul Hornung Award National Player of the Week honor following his dominant display in a 34-26 triumph over Arizona. Williams racked up 223 all-purpose yards, highlighted by a 64-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter that sealed the win and kept the 7-1 Red Raiders in the College Football Playoff hunt.
Quarterback Thomas Castellanos also played a pivotal role, rushing for 117 yards in his first start. The duo became only the second pair of teammates in school history to each surpass 100 rushing yards in the same contest, joining Rob Peters and Ricky Williams from 1998.
The team now prepares for a matchup against West Virginia while holding the No. 15 spot in the latest rankings.
