Texas Tech men’s golf enters the 2026 Big 12 Match Play Championship as the No. 2 seed, aiming to cap a standout fall season with a conference title.
The Red Raiders, led by head coach Greg Sands, boast a standout roster including Adam Bresnu, who recently won his first NCAA Division I individual championship at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational. Bresnu’s victory—achieved with a 7-under 203—also earned him an exemption into the 2027 PGA Tour Charles Schwab Challenge.
Alongside Bresnu, Tim Wiedemeyer and Ben Gregg have also delivered strong performances, with Gregg opening the season with an individual win and a runner-up finish. Texas Tech, ranked fifth nationally in preseason Golf Channel rankings, will face tough competition in Pool B, including Colorado, Kansas State, and Houston, before advancing to the championship round on Wednesday.
The tournament, held at Salt Lake Country Club in Utah, tests both teamwork and individual consistency, with each matchup featuring five head-to-head contests. With Oklahoma State as the top seed and a history of NCAA success under Sands, Texas Tech has the talent and momentum to push for another championship before turning focus to the spring season and a regional hosting opportunity in Lubbock next May.
