Teuvo Teravainen is receiving an unexpected opening in the Chicago Blackhawks lineup after Andrew Mangiapane sustained an injury during the season opener against the Vegas Golden Knights. Head coach Jeff Blashill confirmed that Mangiapane will sit out the remainder of the road trip, creating a roster spot for Teravainen to skate on the second line alongside Roman Kantserov and Nick Lardis.
During practice in Salt Lake City prior to meeting the Utah Mammoth, Teravainen joined the line rushes without anyone rotating in his place. Additional lineup adjustments under Blashill include placing Patrick Kane and Tyler Bertuzzi on the wings of Anton Frondell on the top line as the team navigates early roster changes.
