Former Indian batsman Suresh Raina declined to address speculation surrounding his potential role as Chennai Super Kings’ new batting coach in the upcoming IPL season. The franchise is currently in the process of filling the position left vacant by Michael Hussey’s departure, with Zaheer Khan recently appointed as head coach and Mohit Sharma joining as bowling coach.
Raina, who has previously played for CSK, was asked about his interest in the coaching opportunity during the Indian Softball Cricket League (ISCL) season 2 jersey launch but chose not to comment, simply stating he had no remarks on the matter. Beyond the coaching discussion, Raina also expressed his support for the return of fast bowler Mohammed Shami to the Indian national team, praising his fitness and consistency.
Additionally, he highlighted the growth of cricket through initiatives like the ISCL, which provides opportunities for young players and coaches alike. Raina remains optimistic about India’s chances in the 2027 ODI World Cup, citing the leadership and experience of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as key factors in the team’s strength.
