Steelers fans growing frustrated with DK Metcalf after mistake-filled Week 1
Pittsburgh began their 2026 campaign under new head coach Mike McCarthy with a 20-13 victory against the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium on September 13. Despite the positive outcome on the scoreboard, the offense experienced significant friction, struggling to establish the ground game and failing to capitalize on multiple aerial chances.
Standout edge rusher T.J. Watt provided critical defensive stops to help secure the opening win.
Much of the postgame scrutiny centered on DK Metcalf, who hauled in merely four receptions despite quarterback Aaron Rodgers targeting him 10 times throughout the contest. While the misfires and mistakes tested the patience of the home crowd, Rodgers directly spoke about their emerging chemistry following the final whistle.
Teammate Michael Pittman Jr. likewise offered vocal support for the wideout as the team navigates early-season growing pains.
