Spurs do just enough to beat shorthanded Mavericks, get first win of the season

San Antonio secured their first victory of the season by defeating Dallas 122-106 on the road. Despite a sluggish start and inconsistent execution, the Spurs utilized a decisive second-quarter surge to overcome a shorthanded Mavericks squad playing without Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg.

Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and Devin Vassell provided the necessary spark to pull away, while Daniel Gafford and Sergio De Larrea led the efforts for the home team. Although the Spurs struggled to maintain a consistent double-digit lead due to bench rotation issues, their defensive intensity in the second half proved sufficient to seal the win.
