Michigan State suffered a brutal 31-3 defeat on the road against Wisconsin after struggling immensely on both sides of the ball. Operating without injured star running back Cam Edwards, the Spartans mustered only 88 total points across their initial four games of the season and fell behind 17-0 early in Saturday's contest.
Quarterback Alessio Milivojevic faced constant pressure behind an offensive line that had already surrendered 10 sacks coming into the matchup. Meanwhile, backup running back Jaz Patterson provided some north-to-south production but lacked the explosive, breakaway capability of Edwards.
Defensively, Michigan State failed to contain dual-threat quarterback Colton Joseph, who racked up over 50 rushing yards in the opening quarter alone while leading long, sustained drives that kept the visitors on the field.
