SMU Daily Blitz: ACC Title Hopes Take Major Hit After Stunning Syracuse Collapse

SMU suffered a damaging 30-27 defeat against Syracuse after squandering a fourth-quarter lead. Despite Kevin Jennings throwing for 351 yards and two touchdowns, the Mustangs struggled to establish a ground game and committed two costly fumbles.

While the defense limited Syracuse on third downs, the Orange successfully converted all four of their fourth-down attempts, including the final drive that ended with a game-winning touchdown pass from Steve Angeli to Noah Meyers. This loss leaves Rhett Lashlee's squad with a 6-2 overall record and complicates their standing in the ACC championship race.

The team now looks ahead to upcoming conference matchups against Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Stanford.
