Indian skipper Shubman Gill etched his name in the record books on Wednesday by hammering the quickest double century in one-day international history during a daunting run chase against the West Indies. Facing a massive target of 406 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the captain reached the double-hundred milestone in just 125 deliveries, eclipsing the previous mark held by Ishan Kishan.
This stellar performance marks Gill's second career ODI double century and establishes him as only the second batter ever to achieve the feat while batting second in an innings, joining Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. In the same fixture, teammate Rohit Sharma achieved a major milestone of his own by surpassing 12,000 career runs in the format.
