Rumors are swirling as the trade deadline approaches that the Philadelphia Eagles might send star running back Saquon Barkley back to a familiar destination. The Eagles are currently navigating a massive injury list that includes quarterback Jalen Hurts sidelined for the year due to blood clots, alongside absences from players like DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Landon Dickerson, and the retirement of Lane Johnson.
Barkley recently returned from injury and put up 62 yards and a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys before tweaking his hamstring.
Meanwhile, the division-leading New York Giants recently released running back Najee Harris following friction over the backfield rotation and currently find themselves needing a reliable offensive weapon after quarterback J.J. McCarthy led their rushing attack with only 26 yards last week.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh noted the appeal of having a definitive lead ball carrier, and a potential reunion with Barkley could give their offense a major boost given his impressive history of past performances and career milestones at MetLife Stadium.
