Should Commanders sign a QB with Marcus Mariota down with a knee injury?

Washington backup signal-caller Marcus Mariota exited a 30-13 loss against the Indianapolis Colts due to an MCL issue in his knee, forcing rookie Athan Kaliakmanis into action. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the injury after the contest, indicating that further medical scans will determine the recovery timeline following previous preseason trouble in the exact same joint.

With starter Jayden Daniels already sidelined for that weekend, Kaliakmanis finished by completing 15 of 33 attempts for 186 yards, one score, and one interception. The franchise must now evaluate whether to bring in outside reinforcements or lean on practice squad member Sam Hartman while anticipating Daniels to return fully for a Week 5 matchup opposite the New York Giants.
