During the third match of the series between India and West Indies, the batting side faced a major setback while chasing a daunting 352-run target in the second innings. Skipper Shai Hope was nearing his century when Sherfane Rutherford became the third wicket to fall after contributing 24 runs from 25 balls.
Bowler Naman Dhir delivered a short ball on the final delivery of the 30th over that kept low, prompting Rutherford to step back in an attempt to free his arms. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul safely pouched the catch behind the stumps after a faint edge was generated off the bat.
Although the batter immediately contested the decision and sent it upstairs, UltraEdge confirmed a spike as the ball passed the bat, upholding the dismissal.
Earlier in the innings, opening partner John Campbell was dismissed cheaply after contributing heavily in the previous fixtures of the series, while Amir Jangoo had added a half-century before being run out. Despite losing wickets at crucial intervals, the team remained competitive in the run chase largely due to the efforts of Shai Hope.
