Shadab Khan’s heroics could offer inspiration to Pakistan’s old-timers too

Shadab Khan delivered a remarkable performance in Lahore, scoring an unbeaten 113 to secure a victory for Pakistan against England in their ODI tri-series match. Facing a dire situation at 154-9 in the 34th over, Shadab partnered with Haris Rauf for an unbroken 89-run stand to reach the 242-run target with 17 balls remaining.

This maiden ODI century marked a significant turnaround for the team, which has struggled with inconsistent form and internal instability among its senior players throughout 2024. The victory provides a rare highlight for a squad that has faced intense scrutiny regarding player selection and performance since the start of the year.
