During Sunday's opening period against the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley sustained a hamstring issue during the team's second possession and immediately headed to the sidelines. On a short six-yard rush towards the sideline during his second carry of the contest, the star ball carrier suffered the setback and was subsequently labeled questionable for a potential return.
This exit marks the second time this campaign that Barkley has been forced from action early due to physical concerns, following a prior stinger sustained against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. Prior to his departure, Barkley accumulated eight yards across two rushing attempts for the offense.
With multiple offensive starters already missing—including DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Lane Johnson due to personal matters—the Eagles turned to backup runner Tank Bigsby to absorb the workload. Bigsby handled three carries for six yards immediately following the injury, which culminated in a successful 29-yard field goal to cap off the sequence.
Philadelphia had previously begun the matchup with a three-and-out series on their initial offensive possession. Barkley currently holds season totals consisting of thirty-six rushing attempts resulting in 182 yards without a touchdown.
