Negotiations regarding a long-term agreement between Sam LaPorta and the Detroit franchise have reportedly stalled according to recent media updates. The tight end, who entered the league as a second-round selection in 2023, is currently playing through the final season of his initial rookie contract.
While discussions have been halted for the time being, both sides may potentially restart negotiations later in the year or during the upcoming offseason. The organization still retains the option to apply a franchise tag to retain the pass-catcher before he reaches unrestricted free agency.
Through the current campaign, the offensive target has accumulated fourteen receptions, one hundred forty-four receiving yards, and a single touchdown.
