The Boston Red Sox have finalized their pitching plans for the upcoming American League Wild Card Series opener against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Manager Chad Tracy has handed the ball to rookie hurler Payton Tolle for the initial contest, trusting the young left-hander after his impressive regular-season performances against New York.
Tolle will square off against right-hander Cam Schlittler, who stifled Boston in last year's postseason matchup.
For the second contest, veteran Sonny Gray will take the mound for Boston to face Max Fried. If the matchup extends to a deciding third game, left-hander Ranger Suarez is slated to face Gerrit Cole in a showdown of seasoned postseason arms.
