Rece Davis ranks a new SEC team at No. 1 ahead of Week 5

Following a weekend where previous top choice Ole Miss suffered a heavy defeat against Florida, television analyst Rece Davis has updated his weekly college football ballot. The Texas Longhorns now sit atop his rankings as the new number one team heading into the fifth week of the season.

Behind Texas, the remainder of his top five features Notre Dame in the second position, Ohio State at number three, Indiana in fourth, and Miami rounding out the group at fifth. Further down the list, Georgia holds the sixth spot after defeating Oklahoma, while Florida climbed to seventh and the struggling Ole Miss squad dropped to eighth.

Davis concluded his top ten by placing LSU ninth and BYU tenth, notably omitting an undefeated Alabama team from the group entirely.
