Rays were perfect on postseason SBs -- until Contreras put up a stop sign

Tampa Bay entered the World Series with a perfect record in postseason stolen base attempts, but Milwaukee catcher William Contreras halted that momentum during Game 1. Contreras successfully threw out two runners, Victor Mesa Jr.

and Chandler Simpson, to help secure a 3-2 win for the Brewers. Rays manager Kevin Cash and the players involved acknowledged the defensive impact of those plays, noting that the team will need to be more cautious against Contreras moving forward.

Despite the setbacks, the Rays indicated they intend to continue utilizing their speed as a primary offensive strategy.
