Ray Kerr announced as Wild Card Series Game 3 starter for Braves

The Atlanta Braves have selected left-hander Ray Kerr to start the decisive Game 3 of their Wild Card Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Kerr, who missed the entirety of the 2026 season before returning to the bullpen a couple of months ago, will face off against Aaron Nola with his team's postseason survival hanging in the balance.

Tactical considerations heavily influenced this choice, as Kerr successfully threw three scoreless frames against the Phillies on September 13 and repeated that three-inning, zero-run performance on September 25. Following Kerr's opening stint, manager-level planning suggests Grant Holmes could take over in relief, potentially paving the way for the remainder of the bullpen in a winner-take-all elimination matchup.
