Ranji Trophy 2026/27: Brittle Kerala faces tough Gujarat test

Kerala heads to Ahmedabad aiming to rebound from a heavy 287-run defeat against Bengal as the squad prepares to meet Gujarat in the fourth round of Elite Group C. Gujarat enters the upcoming fixture seeking a resurgence after conceding first-innings leads to both Delhi and Maharashtra following a strong opening-round victory over Odisha.

Gujarat skipper Chintan Gaja noted that the pitch is expected to offer assistance to spinners later in the contest, highlighting the importance of a solid first-innings total while backing Siddharth Desai to spearhead the bowling attack. Meanwhile, visiting captain Vishnu Vinod acknowledged that a collective breakdown led to the previous loss but stressed that his squad will concentrate on executing their game plan and leveraging their three-spinner lineup under familiar conditions at the venue of a historic past semifinal win.
