Ranji Trophy 2026/27: Ajith Ram focussed on performing for Tamil Nadu after ‘sleepless’ injury-riddled nights

Tamil Nadu left‑arm spinner S. Ajith Ram made his first red‑ball appearance in more than 18 months, returning to the Ranji Trophy after missing the entire 2025‑26 season with a knee injury sustained in the 2025 TNPL.

In the match against Uttarakhand at the MAC Stadium, he claimed four wickets as Tamil Nadu posted a dominant victory.

The 28‑year‑old, who has taken 98 wickets in 19 first‑class games at an average of 17.35, said he struggled to sleep for the first three months of his rehab but has now focused on controllable factors and enjoys the game rather than chasing milestones like reaching 100 wickets.
