The Los Angeles Rams have released kicker Harrison Mevis following a sharp decline in performance this season. Mevis, who showed promise in his rookie year with a 92.3% field goal success rate (12 of 13 attempts), has struggled mightily in 2026, converting just five of nine field goals (55.6%) through five games.
His struggles became especially costly in Monday night’s overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills, where he missed a field goal and had a potential game-winning attempt blocked, contributing to a 37-34 defeat. The Rams, aiming for a Super Bowl run, can no longer afford such inconsistencies, particularly on special teams, where Mevis’ unreliability has become a liability.
His career numbers now stand at 17-for-22 (77.3%) in the regular season, a far cry from his rookie form. With the kicking position now a priority, the Rams must quickly find a replacement capable of delivering under pressure as the season progresses.
