Qinwen Zheng captured the China Open singles crown on Oct. 11 in Beijing, defeating fourth‑seed Mirra Andreeva 7‑5, 6‑4 in a 1 hour 43 minute final.
The 24‑year‑old entered the tournament as a wildcard while returning from an elbow injury and saved three set points in the first set before sealing the win with an ace to close out the match.
The victory makes Zheng the first Chinese woman to win the event since its 2004 reinauguration and her first WTA 1000 title, adding a sixth career singles trophy to her résumé. It also marks a historic milestone for the home crowd, highlighting her comeback after a difficult stretch away from competition.
