Goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov recently inked a two-year contract extension locking him into the Carolina Hurricanes organization through the conclusion of the 2028-29 campaign. Following a lengthy negotiation period that wrapped up last week, the netminder expressed relief at having the deal finished so he can turn his complete attention toward hockey.
Heading into his fifth year as a full-time NHL player, Kochetkov now has a clear path toward securing the starting job following Frederik Andersen's departure and will compete with Brandon Bussi. Having previously battled mental hurdles regarding contract status and career benchmarks, Kochetkov is shifting his focus strictly toward daily preparation and recovery as he works to regain his peak form following hip surgery.
