Preview: Avalanche & Kings meet for much-anticipated season opener

The Colorado Avalanche open their campaign following a contract extension for Jared Bednar by hosting the Los Angeles Kings at Ball Arena. The team enters the matchup missing Logan O'Connor and Zachary L'Heureux on injured reserve, while goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood gets the nod to start the season opener after recovering from surgery.

Meanwhile, the visiting Kings look to jumpstart their offensive attack with offseason additions Mats Zuccarello, Erik Haula, and Scott Laughton after being swept by Colorado in the previous postseason.
