India’s Test squad has gained a late boost ahead of their two-match series against New Zealand, with fast bowler Prasidh Krishna declared fit to travel after being ruled out of the preceding five-match ODI series. The Karnataka pacer had been sidelined due to a hamstring injury, which required additional recovery time, but selectors have now cleared him for the upcoming fixtures.
Krishna’s inclusion adds depth to India’s attack, particularly as the team prepares for the unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A, where he is expected to feature. The official series begins after India’s recent T20I series win over the Kiwis, though their ODI record in New Zealand remains poor—last winning a 50-over match in the country in the 2018/19 season under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
With Shubman Gill leading a young batting lineup, the Tests present a critical opportunity to break the drought and test the Kiwis’ dominance in the longer format.
