Pragyan Ojha will take over as chairman of the BCCI's Men's Selection Committee following the exit of Ajit Agarkar. The restructuring of the panel also includes the addition of Ramesh Powar, who was officially appointed as a new member of the five-member panel.
The updated selection panel consists of Pragyan Ojha as chairperson, alongside Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra, and Ramesh Powar. Ojha will chair the committee based on seniority, determined by the number of Test matches played.
Over his international career, Ojha represented India in 24 Tests, 18 ODIs, and six T20Is. He had previously joined the selection committee during the BCCI's 94th Annual General Meeting in September 2025.
Powar's appointment was confirmed by the BCCI on Monday, October 19, 2026. This followed a formal process where the application window for the role closed on October 14, 2026.
The Cricket Advisory Committee, which consists of Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, subsequently conducted interviews with candidates at the BCCI headquarters on October 15, 2026, before reaching a unanimous recommendation in favor of Powar. Powar played two Tests and 31 ODIs for India during his playing career.
The leadership change follows the conclusion of Ajit Agarkar's tenure on October 4, 2026. Agarkar, who was appointed chairman in July 2023, opted not to pursue an extension of his term.
