Payton Pritchard doesn’t care about starting

Payton Pritchard has signed a two-year, $44.2 million extension, moving up from an annual salary of roughly $8 million. Despite his growth from an overlooked player to a championship contributor, he remains indifferent to whether he starts or comes off the bench for the Boston Celtics.

He believes a player's impact and total minutes, such as playing over 30 minutes or closing out games, define their role more than a starting label. Coach Joe Mazzulla will determine his position in the rotation alongside teammates Jayson Tatum, Paul George, and Derrick White, as the team adjusts to Jaylen Brown's departure.
