Why Kevin Durant completely missed Mat Ishbia's point about his Suns tenure, building a championship culture

A public disagreement unfolded between Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia and Kevin Durant following comments Ishbia made on CNBC regarding his team-building strategy. Ishbia suggested that acquiring star talent does not guarantee championships, leading Durant to respond on social media by highlighting his own performance and contributions to the organization.

The two later exchanged further remarks online, with Ishbia clarifying that his comments were not intended as a critique of Durant personally. The discussion originated from Ishbia reflecting on his decision to aggressively pursue a title shortly after purchasing the franchise in February 2023, when the team held a lower seed in the Western Conference.
