Panic Meter: Is it time for Oklahoma to bench John Mateer for good?

Following a difficult road defeat against Georgia in a Week 4 SEC matchup, questions are swirling regarding Oklahoma starting quarterback John Mateer. After falling behind early in Athens, a costly second-quarter fumble by Mateer was returned the length of the field for a touchdown, pushing the deficit to 21-0 and drawing heavy criticism from fans and analysts alike.

With backups Whitt Newbauer and Bowe Bentley waiting in the wings, offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle has expressed confidence in the reserves as the Sooners prepare to face Texas on October 10.
