Following a discussion with head coach Mike Hesson, Pakistan opening batsman Saim Ayub requested permission to step away from the ongoing ODI tri-series to address his batting form and rebuild his confidence in domestic fixtures. The team management and national selection committee agreed to his request after he managed a total of only 21 runs across three innings in matches against Sri Lanka and England.
Sahibzada Farhan has been selected to take his place in the squad for the remainder of the competition. Pakistan have already secured a spot in the final with three consecutive victories and are scheduled to play their final league fixture against Sri Lanka.
