Somerset all-rounder Craig Overton recently claimed the men's player of the year honor at the Professional Cricketers' Association ceremony following a standout domestic campaign. During the recent county season, which saw his club secure second place in Division One, the thirty-two-year-ilrd athlete collected fifty-three dismissals at an average of 19.18 while also accumulating 734 runs with the bat, featuring three centuries.
Having previously represented his nation across eight Test matches and seven one-day internationals within a total of fifteen appearances, Overton has been absent from the international setup since 2022. Speaking after collecting his accolade, he stated his intention to force the national selectors' hands through continued high-level output on the pitch, acknowledging that prior non-selection reflects the management's preferred direction for the squad.
