Oregon freshman wide receiver Messiah Hampton was taken into custody on Friday, October 30, following an investigation into a high-speed pursuit that occurred in Springfield on October 18. Hampton faces two felony counts for attempting to flee law enforcement and a misdemeanor charge for reckless driving.

He has been ruled out for the upcoming game against Northwestern. While other players like Evan Stewart and Jamari Johnson were involved in separate incidents that morning, police have confirmed they are not suspects in this specific case.
