Oregon quarterback Dante Moore will miss the Ducks' game against Nebraska after being listed as out on the team's first injury report of the week, released October 14. Moore has been sidelined since the Ducks' 17-15 loss to UCLA on October 10, where he did not play and remains in concussion protocol.
In his place against UCLA, Dylan Raiola started for Oregon, and Brock Thomas also played. Thomas threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Evan Stewart that cut UCLA's lead to 17-15 with 2:16 remaining, but Oregon could not complete the comeback. The Ducks committed seven of the game's 10 turnovers.
Head coach Dan Lanning has not named a starter for Nebraska. In his comments after the UCLA loss, Lanning said, 'Everything is being evaluated,' and indicated that Raiola would not automatically get the job: 'He has to win the competition.' The quarterback competition between Raiola and Thomas is now the main question for Oregon's offense.
The Nebraska game is a chance for the 13th-ranked Ducks, who lost at home to an undefeated UCLA team, to respond. With Moore's return beyond Nebraska undetermined, Oregon will rely on whichever quarterback emerges from the competition.
