Purdue’s offense has undergone a notable transformation under head coach Brian Odom, with quarterback Ryan Browne leading the charge. After a 2023 season marked by frequent turnovers—nine interceptions to just nine touchdowns—Browne has reinvented himself into one of the Big Ten’s most efficient signal-callers.
This year, he’s thrown only a single interception across five games, a feat only three Purdue quarterbacks have achieved in the same span over the last three decades. His passing game has flourished, with three straight career-high passing totals, including a 378-yard, three-touchdown performance against UCLA.
Browne’s improved accuracy (just under 70% completion rate) and willingness to extend plays have elevated Purdue’s passing attack to the top 25 in the FBS, while his rushing ability—highlighted by an 81-yard touchdown run against Minnesota—adds another dimension to his game.
Behind Browne, Purdue’s ground game has gained momentum with the emergence of sophomore running back Fame Ijeboi, a Minnesota transfer who has become a physical force. Ijeboi’s 195-yard, three-touchdown performance against his former team showcased his relentless downhill running and resilience, averaging nearly five yards per carry.
He’s also proven to be a reliable receiver, catching six passes against Wake Forest and ranking fourth on the team in receptions. The Boilermakers’ receiver corps, rebuilt through the transfer portal, now features FAU transfer Asaad Waseem and Xavier Townsend as primary targets, both of whom have contributed significant yardage in recent outings.
