One potential Mac Jones suitor is off the board after trading for J.J. McCarthy

The New York Giants have shifted their quarterback plans by acquiring backup J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a fifth-round selection. Tom Pelissero of The Ringer shared the update regarding the 2024 draftee, removing the Giants from the running for San Francisco 49ers signal-caller Mac Jones.

Prior to this trade, New York had shown interest in Jones, though offensive coordinator Matt Nagy had previously bypassed the chance to draft him back in 2021 while with Chicago. With McCarthy now in New York, Jones stays on the 49ers roster unless another quarterback-needy organization emerges or an injury occurs across the league.
