New York Jets rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. is being evaluated on a week-to-week basis after sustaining an ankle sprain.
The 22-year-old was forced out of action during the opening quarter of New York's 23-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, shortly after recording a 30-yard catch. Despite ruling him out for the remainder of that contest and casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming home opener, the team has chosen not to transfer him to injured reserve.
The Jets also sustained a defensive blow in the same period of their season opener, losing safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to an injury that likewise puts his status in jeopardy for the home debut. With Cooper sidelined, New York may lean more heavily on undrafted free agent receiver Jamaal Pritchett moving into Week 2.
