Led by a trio of impact transfers formerly at North Texas, Oklahoma State defeated West Virginia 41-24 on Saturday. Quarterback Drew Mestemaker threw for 389 yards and three touchdowns, running back Caleb Hawkins rushed 31 times for 180 yards and a score, and receiver Wyatt Young contributed eight catches for 192 yards and a touchdown.
The stellar performances drew immediate comparisons to the program's iconic 1987 offensive trio of Mike Gundy, Thurman Thomas, and Hart Lee Dykes under then-coach Pat Jones. The current group previously played under head coach Chad Morris at North Texas before relocating to Oklahoma State.
