Nick Saban says he was offered Giants job in 1997

Nick Saban revealed during a media appearance that he received an opportunity to lead the New York Giants back in 1997 while serving as head coach at Michigan State. To keep the discussions quiet, executive George Young traveled directly to Saban's residence in East Lansing for a clandestine meeting.

Although the legendary coach ultimately declined the proposal, clearing the path for the franchise to hire Jim Fassel instead, he acknowledged the reality of the offer years later.
