The historic Gymkhana Ground in Secunderabad is undergoing a significant transformation ahead of the upcoming domestic cricket season. All nine pitches at the venue have been completely relaid to ensure the surfaces meet the standards required for top-flight red-ball competition.
This upgrade comes as the stadium prepares to serve as the exclusive host for all of Hyderabad's home fixtures in the Ranji Trophy, filling the void left while the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium undergoes its own scheduled renovations. HCA secretary M.
Jeevan Reddy emphasized that the project was essential to restore the venue to its former status as a premier cricketing hub. With a legacy spanning over 150 years, the ground has previously hosted notable events including the Irani Cup and matches during the Women’s World Cup.
