The NBA is broadening its ‘Tap to Watch’ feature for the 2026-27 season, now integrating it directly into TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) to streamline access to live games. Starting next season, any TikTok post tagged with #NBA will include a Tap to Watch link, while X users will benefit from a new NBA Gametime tool that maps game broadcasts alongside scores and highlights.
Fans can also sync the league’s full schedule to their calendars, with each event linking straight to its broadcast platform. The expansion follows the feature’s initial rollout last year, which initially operated through the NBA App, NBA.com, and select partners like Google and Meta, aiming to reduce friction for viewers navigating multiple streaming services during the league’s second year under its ESPN, NBC, and Amazon broadcast deal.
The NBA App itself is set for major upgrades, including a live tracker called Game Pulse that aggregates highlights, stats, and commentary from former players like Gary Payton and Joakim Noah. An AI-powered assistant, AskNBA, will answer fan questions using league data, including a new AWS-developed metric called Handle Score that evaluates dribble moves.
League Pass subscribers will also gain Auto-Play Next, automatically transitioning them to the next game once their current broadcast ends. While fans will still need to juggle ESPN, Peacock, Prime Video, and local team streams, the updates aim to consolidate access points and reduce confusion amid the league’s expanded digital ecosystem.
