Durham County Cricket Club has secured a two-year extension with rising talent James Minto, binding the 18-year-old left-arm all-rounder to the squad through the 2028 season. The deal follows his progression from a rookie contract, with Minto having already made a mark in first-class cricket since his debut at just 16 against Surrey two years ago.
In seven top-tier matches, he has claimed 14 wickets while also showcasing his batting prowess, becoming Durham’s youngest half-century scorer when he reached 67 against Nottinghamshire in 2025 at the age of 17. Beyond county cricket, Minto has represented England at the Under-19 level and featured in Durham’s One-Day Cup campaign, with a single appearance in the T20 Blast under his belt.
His dual-threat abilities have earned recognition from Durham’s leadership, who praised his consistent performances as a key reason for the contract renewal.
