Uttarakhand off-spinner Mayank Mishra continued his dominant domestic form with another five-wicket haul in a Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu, dismissing key batsmen B. Indrajith and Pradosh Ranjan Paul to restrict TN’s first-innings total.
The 36-year-old’s stellar 2025–26 season—where he finished as the competition’s second-highest wicket-taker with 59 scalps in eight matches—culminated in Uttarakhand’s first-ever Ranji Trophy semifinal appearance. Despite his standout performances, Mishra was notably left out of the Central Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy, a selection snub that has become a recurring disappointment for the experienced bowler, who also missed out in 2023 after taking 38 wickets and in 2022 despite strong showings.
Undeterred, Mishra has focused on refining his craft, drawing on lessons from his stints with minor counties in England, where he developed a slower bowling repertoire to complement his pace. He cited Ravindra Jadeja and Daniel Vettori as bowling mentors, particularly admiring Jadeja’s ability to contribute with both ball and bat—a skill Mishra aims to emulate for his own team.
With no expectations of further recognition, Mishra remains committed to mastering his process, prioritizing consistency over selection outcomes.
