Following the Minnesota Lynx postseason elimination, star forward Napheesa Collier stated she has not yet considered her upcoming free agency status. Collier is an unrestricted free agent after completing a one-year supermax contract valued at $1.4 million.
She expressed affection for the franchise and her teammates during exit interviews in Minneapolis, noting that the abrupt end to their playoff run left no time to process the future. The top-seeded Lynx were swept in the opening round by the New York Liberty, marking a historic playoff upset.
Collier battled through significant physical hurdles during the 2026 campaign after undergoing surgeries on both of her ankles in January and March. She did not make her season debut until late July, eventually appearing in 16 regular-season games and averaging 16.8 points along with 6.9 rebounds.
Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve acknowledged that Collier was operating below full health during the series against New York. Despite falling short of championship aspirations, Collier voiced pride in the difficult rehabilitation process required to return to the hardwood.
