The Bangladesh Cricket Board has officially transitioned its T20I leadership, appointing Nahida Akter as the new captain. She replaces Nigar Sultana, who stepped down following the Asian Games to prioritize her batting performance while continuing her role as the ODI team leader.
Sobhana Mostary has been appointed as the new T20I vice-captain to support this change. Rafiqul Islam, chairman of the women's wing, confirmed the decision on October 18, 2026, noting that the board opted for continuity by promoting Akter, who previously served as Sultana's deputy since 2022.
This new leadership structure will face its first test during the ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy in Thailand. The team is scheduled to begin their campaign in the tournament with a match against Pakistan on November 12, 2026.
