Munetaka Murakami has been named a finalist for the American League Outstanding Rookie Award as part of the MLBPA Players Choice honors. He joins Kevin McGonigle and Parker Messick as the three players competing for the title, with the winner set to be revealed during the week of October 26.
Despite a mid-season hamstring injury and a late-year slump, Murakami finished his debut campaign with 35 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 92 walks across 127 games. While his contact rate and strikeout totals presented challenges, his elite barrel rate and power metrics established him as a significant offensive presence for the White Sox.
