'Performances in domestic cricket will always be rewarded' - WV Raman on India's selection policy

Former India coach WV Raman recently discussed the national team's selection criteria, noting that domestic performance is weighed against specific squad requirements. He explained that selectors prioritize filling identified gaps in the lineup rather than simply picking players based on general form.

Raman highlighted the search for a new off-spinner as a primary example of this strategy, following the retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin after the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane on December 18, 2024.
