Former UFC fighter Muhammad Mokaev has accused the promotion of intentionally damaging the reputations of released athletes by spreading negative narratives. Mokaev alleges that the organization warns fighters against utilizing wrestling tactics before later citing those same styles as a reason for their departure.
This criticism follows the exit of Farid Basharat, an undefeated bantamweight who was not re-signed despite holding a 16-0 professional record and a 7-0 mark within the promotion. Basharat reported that officials characterized his performance style as uninteresting during his tenure.
Meanwhile, Jose Aldo has publicly suggested that the UFC should release Movsar Evloev, another undefeated fighter with a 20-0 record, due to his reliance on decision victories.
